We were lucky enough to get a dinner reservation at Troutbeck on Christmas Day, and from the very beginning the experience was exceptional. The associates who helped us secure the reservation were kind, attentive, and made everything feel effortless. The drive in was beautiful—easy, scenic, and already setting the tone for something special. Once we arrived, the service was outstanding. Every interaction came with a smile, and the team struck that perfect balance of being present without ever feeling intrusive. And the dinner… truly unforgettable. We had an absolute feast for Christmas—dish after dish that was so good it almost didn’t feel real. Every plate was thoughtful, delicious, and absolutely worth the price and more. Troutbeck delivered a holiday meal we’ll be talking about for a long time. Wonderful setting, wonderful people, wonderful food. We’ll definitely be going back.

We had a wonderful fall weekend stay at Troutbeck. The beautiful old historic stone house is freshly updated and is very stylish and cozy, with libraries and roaring fireplaces, and plenty of reading nooks. It is both a quiet and restorative retreat, and also place where you can have as much outdoor activity as you would want. There is a complete gym and yoga studio, saunas and a pool. The rooms are beautiful and they had every comfort and convenience, including a Nespresso, coffee machine . The restaurant has a seasonal menu and the food was locally sourced and deliciously prepared. The front desk was also very helpful, directing us to the wide offering of activities and opportunities in the area. We took MetroNorth up from the city, and the front desk kindly arranged pickup (thank you John and Julio!) at the Wassaic train station, which is five minutes away. It was a thoroughly enjoyable weekend stay.

I had a delightful stay with Troutbeck! Writing this while enjoying one last scrumptious breakfast with the kind, attentive staff before heading home. Curated with character and care, the grounds are straight out of a storybook - each room intentionally designed, shelves and walls brimming with history and intentional touches throughout. Day one, smooth check in after a long travel day and was met with a spacious, lovely room ready for me. No holds barred, I promptly treated myself to frites and prosecco in front of the fire before a decadent dinner with the onsite restaurant featuring fresh, flavorful farm to table selections. Entirely worth the hype. Day two, I took advantage of The Barns spa services and enjoyed an exceptional signature facial and massage preceded by a warm up in the infrared sauna. All told, nothing short of heavenly being pampered by practitioners who blended extensive expertise with a luxurious experience. Day three, I booked the BMW - highly recommend taking advantage of this perk! I took picturesque backroads to Inissfree Gardens, bopped through shops at Millbrook Village, enjoyed a tasting at Millbrook Winery, and treated myself to dinner at Panacea before coming back to Troutbeck for a nightcap by the fire. As a solo female traveler, I highly recommend Troutbeck as a safe and bespoke getaway for anyone looking to romanticize their life for a little while. Ending with one last love note to Kennedy and the reception team for going above and beyond during my stay.

When you first arrive at the property, the stone-clad Manor House immediately catches your eye - it looks so warm and inviting from the outside. One of the highlights for me was the charming Holiday market inside the hotel during the festive season. The rustic décor, complete with cozy fireplaces, created the perfect warm and inviting setting. It’s one of those places that instantly makes you feel at home. Highly recommend - can’t wait to return

Thank you for hosting my recent stay and being so kind and accommodating to my dog Lacey! I did not even need to use her collapsible bowls I had brought since the nice metal ones were already in the Benson house. All the staff were so respectful in asking if it was okay to pet or approach her first (as she is nervous) and seemed to be attuned in noticing she had been taking a minute to getting to know a new place to her. Our server Michael was extremely personal, accommodating in helping explain the menu and guiding our dinner and drink choices. The seasonal and local ingredients are so clearly & thoughtfully procured. Stephanie the reservation/dining host was so helpful with checking in with our preferences. Kennedy at the front desk was very welcoming and friendly at the front desk.

Mr.Romance and I came in for dinner. Five stars and more. From walking in the hotel being greeted by amazing and warm front desk staff. Then be greeted by Ethan to make us a cocktail while we are brought to our table by the fantastic service staff. Mike and Ethan and Allison took care of our every need. They had all the answers to our questions and information we didn’t know we needed. The kitchen staff are culinary magicians. The food dazzled in presentation and amazed in flavor. Mr.Romance and I recommend Troutbeck to all who want warm and Fantastic experience with food and Friends.

UPDATE: A huge thank you to Troutbeck for the super quick response to this and attempt to remedy the situation. Great customer service move that was really appreciated Original post: My husband and I spent 2 nights at Troutbeck as a mini-moon following our wedding. The staff were lovely and the food was amazing. That said, I was a bit underwhelmed by the experience when compared to the price. I was disappointed that the fireplace in our room didn't work, which, when I flagged to staff, they chalked up to it being finicky. It finally came out that they were waiting for a part for it and it was basically out of commission until that arrived. Definitely frustrating since that was part of the draw of the room. The TV also wouldn't load any shows on netflix which was frustrating. I would have expected some sort of gesture as acknowledgement that there were issues with our room that we paid a lot for. Overall, our experience was perfectly fine, but I don't think that should be the takeaway for a hotel of this caliber and at this price-point.

I actually just paused my day to sit down and write this review. It is something I always mean to do and then forget about later, but this incredible place deserves the pause and the praise. The hotel itself is lovely little retreat in the Hudson Valley that prioritizes local goods which I love. Rooms are cozy (literally have our own fireplace - I am obsessed), and you feel like a guest at a family estate. The real star of the show though, is the staff. I have to believe that this is a great place to work, because each and every person I have interacted with has been so kind and welcoming - always going above and beyond. I think places like this with the cost, level of luxury etc., can easily feel pretentious or elite, but not Troutbeck. From my first call where David helped me book a winter walk for my husband, to Kennedy at the front desk helping me book a massage, but making it feel like a friend is looking out for me. I cannot say enough. The people make a place and this place is full of warmth. 10/10 would return ;)
